Clonakilty Take Pride in your Jersey programme launched

Clonakilty Food Co., home of Clonakilty Sausages and our famous Clonakilty Blackpudding is delighted to announce the launch of our school’s programme Clonakilty Take Pride in your Jersey today, in conjunction with Cork City FC, for the second year running.

Centred around supporting young and enthusiastic Cork City FC fans and families in the community, Clonakilty Take Pride in your Jersey is inviting primary schools across the county to once again be in with a chance to take part in a season-long initiative that will reward and inspire students, their teachers and their parents.

Each month, five lucky schools will be chosen as our official Clonakilty Take Pride in your Jersey winning entrants (March-June 2018). As part of the programme, one class in each school will receive a visit from two members of Cork City FC senior team who will spend time talking to the children about what it takes to become a double winning professional athlete, the importance of working as a team, core skills to work on if you want to make it to the top and much more. The players will also present a prize to the Clonakilty Take Pride in your Jersey Student of the Month who will not only receive a hamper full of Clonakilty goodies but also a Family Ticket for their family to attend a Cork City FC home match that month.

Cork City FC are also offering €1 Entry Tickets to Turner’s Cross for all the children in the Student of the Month’s winning class to attend the match.

Upholding traditions and having a strong sense of pride in where we’re from are core values that both Clonakilty Food Co. and Cork City FC share and believe are integral to our success.

To be in with a chance to become an official Clonakilty Take Pride in Your Jersey school this season we would like you to:

1. Design a football shirt for your school, that reflects our shared values.

    • We want your shirt to give us an insight into what makes your school different from all the others, to show us the great pride you have in your community and the traditions you have in your school.
    • All entries should be accompanied with a little story about your school and why your design reflects our shared values.

2. Download the template to design your jersey, just click here.

3. Colour in the template.

4. Post your entry to “Clonakilty Take Pride in your Jersey, C/O Cork City FC, Bishopstown Training Ground, Curraheen, Cork.”

Entries should be submitted by 28th February 2018 and winners will be announced on 7th March 2017.

Karl Sheppard, striker for Cork City FC says “It is great to see this programme being rolled out again this year. On the back of winning a double, we know people will be looking up to us in terms of being role models for children in Cork. We really did love going into the schools last year and seeing all the young Cork City supporters. The kids will have great fun designing the jerseys and there is no doubt the entries will be better than the jerseys the players here tried designing.”
